Take The Challenge - How to Enter

Arrow1   No entry fee required
Arrow1   Only Texas high school students in 9th through 12th grades
Arrow1   One video submission allowed per student
Arrow1   Video submission must take place by the contest deadline
Arrow1   Signed parent permission slip (for those contestants under 18 years of age) and signed talent photo/video production release forms are required
Arrow1   No copyrighted material or trademarks unless contestant has acquired the required applicable written permission
Arrow1   Video must be original student work



Judging will be done by advertising, media, and education professionals. Videos will be judged by these factors:

Arrow1   Whether submission guidelines have been followed
Arrow1   How well video theme and topics are addressed
Arrow1   Video creativity
Arrow1   Video usability (Can audio be heard? Are images able to be seen?)
Arrow1   Inspire other students

Final Judging for the Top 5 will be based on YouTube “Likes” collected by your efforts to share your video across social media, email, or word of mouth. So get as many “Likes” as you can!!

Arrow1   STEP 1:

Create a 2-3 minute Take the Challenge! video that reflects the contest theme and tells your story in the most creative way.

Arrow1   Enrolling in a rigorous academic plan in school

Arrow1   Involving parents and family as you prepare for college and career

Arrow1   Preparing right now to fill out the best college application through ApplyTexas.org and to pay for college (high school seniors only)

Video must include these things:

ARROW2   Address at least one of the three main theme topics (listed above)

ARROW2   Include the Take the Challenge! logo

ARROW2   Mention the contest name “Take the Challenge!”

ARROW2   Mention the name “2013 Generation Texas Week”

ARROW2   Let your audience know they can learn more at www.GenTX.org/TakeTheChallenge

ARROW2   Mention the following disclaimer: “The views and opinions expressed in this video are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of THECB or GenTX.”


Arrow1   STEP 2:

Upload your video to YouTube using the hashtags:



If you have a gmail account, you automatically have a YouTube account. Copy and paste a link to your video. Double check to make sure the link is correct. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU TURN OFF COMMENTS FOR THE VIDEO (REQUIRED).


Arrow1   STEP 3:

Fill out the online video entry form. Scan and save your signed permission slip (required for students under 18 years of age) and photo/video production release forms as jpeg files. Attach the required documents with your online form.

Submissions must be received by:
12 a.m. midnight (CST) on Friday, November 22, 2021 (the last day of Generation TX Week).
