Steps To Apply

  • Sign up for the PSAT. Ask your counselor to register you for the PSAT. If you have difficulty paying the registration fee, ask your counselor or adviser about getting a fee waiver.

  • Sign up for summer programs. Apply to participate in summer enrichment programs, camps, internships, and/or youth leadership programs. Not only are summer programs a great way to meet new people, but they can also help you prepare for college.
  • Gather recommendations. Ask your employer or camp counselor for a letter of recommendation that you can include when you apply to college. Keep in touch with teachers who have had an impact on your education, and begin thinking about future teachers as possible sources of recommendation letters for college applications.
