GenTX Day 2015

Join in on GenTX Decision Day!

What is GenTX Decision Day?
GenTX Decision Day celebrations will be happening on or around May 1 at high schools across Texas. We hope that you join in by celebrating seniors and their postsecondary plans!
What happens at GenTX Decision Day?
All students are recognized for their postsecondary plans in front of the entire study body. Think of GenTX Decision Day as a school spirit day, during which we all work together to build excitement and awareness surrounding the college selection and enrollment process. All high school students, faculty, staff, and community members are encouraged to wear college apparel, decorate doors and classrooms in college themes, post signs and pennants in our community, decorate storefronts, or have college trivia contests — let’s get creative!

How can I help?
You can help by talking to students about their college choices, contributing to the “spirit” of the day or —perhaps most importantly — reaching out to students to encourage them to complete the enrollment process. Seek out those students who might traditionally be overlooked when it comes to college planning, and talk to them about their options for college. Be sure to ask students about their postsecondary education plans after high school as they board the bus, go through the lunch line, or walk into church, a store, or their classrooms!

We are building a college-going culture in Texas schools and GenTX Decision Day is one of the ways that we do this. Please join in!
